Mode of action of Zenegra tablets:
Related to blood flow, penile erection is initiated by the smooth muscle relaxation of the corpus cavernosum (part of the penis). When sexual stimulation occurs, nitric oxide is released by the nerves of the corpus cavernosum. This nitric oxide is responsible for the activation of an enzyme called guanylate cyclase. The release of guanylate cyclase is responsible for the increased synthesis of cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) in the smooth muscle cells of the corpus cavernosum. The synthesis of cGMP causes increased blood flow into the penis thereby, relaxing its smooth muscles. The ultimate relaxation of smooth muscles causes the penis to erect.
This action has a controlled mechanism too with an enzyme called phosphodiesterases (PDEs). PDEs are a group of enzymes responsible for the degradation of cGMP. PDE5 is the most abundant PDE found in the penis of males, therefore its selective inhibition increases the penile erectile finally.
